More than $1.3 million was available at the end of June to help fuel the high-octane congressional battle between Republican Rep. Lee Terry and Democratic challenger Tom White.

New campaign finance reports filed with the Federal Election Commission on Thursday showed Terry with $787,000 and White with $532,000 in cash on hand at the end of June.

Democratic congressional candidate Tom White on Thursday accused his opponent, Republican Lee Terry, of protecting reckless behavior on Wall Street by voting against a bill to overhaul financial regulations.

“Terry, yet again, chose to side with Wall Street over Main Street,” said White, an Omaha attorney and state senator.

Omaha, NE – At a press conference today, Tom White took Rep. Lee Terry to task for his record of putting Wall Street ahead of Main Street. After voting to bail out Wall Street, Terry has consistently voted to protect the Big Banks’ greed and recklessness, even voting against comprehensive Wall Street reform yesterday.

“With his vote yesterday, Congressman Terry yet again chose to side with Wall Street over Main Street,” Tom White said. “Since supporting the Wall Street bailout, Lee Terry has doubled down in his support for Wall Street’s irresponsible behavior by voting against TARP reform, against limiting tax-payer funded bonuses at bailed out banks, and against comprehensive financial reform.”
