Tom White Officially Files for Congress

Omaha, NE – State Sen. Tom White of Omaha formally filed today as a candidate for Congress in District 2.

“No matter which party controls Congress, Nebraskans I’ve talked to feel the needs of ordinary Americans aren’t being met,” said White. “Lee Terry and too many other politicians in D.C. spend too much time trying to score cheap shots for their party and not enough time working together to meet the challenges facing our country.

“I’m running for Congress because I know that with my unwavering independence and record of results, I can do more for Nebraska. I’ll be the effective voice our community needs in the House – someone who puts partisanship aside and shows leadership on issues like reducing the deficit, restoring fiscal responsibility, creating jobs, and increasing access to affordable health care. My record in the Legislature demonstrates my ability to work with members of both parties to reduce taxes, strengthen the economy, and balance budgets.”

A lifelong Nebraskan, Tom was elected to the Legislature in 2006 to represent Benson and Dundee. He and his wife Barb have two teenage children, and are members of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church.
